SSHA Petition for Excess Units

School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (SSHA) Policy states that students applying to enroll in excess units must have a minimum 3.0 overall/cumulative GPA, or a 3.3 GPA in their last completed term (not including Summer) if the overall/cumulative GPA does not meet the standard.

  • Students who meet these requirements and wish to enroll in up to 20 units for Fall/Spring, or 16 units for Summer, should complete the "Petition for Excess Units" form below.
  • Enrollment in more than 20 units for Fall/Spring, or more than 16 units for Summer, requires approval by the Dean. In this case, the "Petition for Excess Units" request should be submitted via the SSHA General Petition webform.

Processing Time: Generally 2-3 business days.

NOTE: Processing of this petition request is NOT guaranteed to meet the Fall 2024 University deadline if submitted after September 4th, 2024.

Please indicate the term for which you are requesting excess units enrollment for.

NOTE: Enrollment term may not be beyond open course schedules.
