Graduation and Commencement

Graduation

If you are a senior planning to graduate, you will need to complete the Graduation Application for the term in which you will complete your degree requirements.  The application is available in your Portal if you are eligible to apply (90 units or more completed). Participation in the Commencement ceremony is indicated on the Graduation Application itself.

The application deadlines each year are:

Finishing in Spring?: Apply online Sept. 16 through Feb. 15
Finishing in Summer?: Apply online Sept. 16 through June 15
Finishing in Fall?: Apply online Feb. 16 through Sept. 15

Advisors will review applications throughout the semester. Your application will be denied if you will not be completing your requirements for the term in which you have applied. If your application is denied, you will need to submit a Graduation Term Refile form.

Commencement

Information on Commencement at UC Merced is available online.

**Students planning to graduate Summer or Fall 2014, but wishing to participate in the May 2014 commencement will still need to complete the graduation application for the appropriate term during the filing period. However, you will need to file the Graduation Application by April 1 in order to participate in May 2014 Commencement.

Graduation Plans

  • Graduation planning appointments are available only to those students admitted as transfer students.
  • All students are encouraged to utilize university resources such as MyAudit (available for declared and “what if” majors, more information here) and the university catalog, as well as major and minor planning guides to review their outstanding requirements. Students with questions about their outstanding requirements are encouraged to e-mail their advisor or attend posted advising walk-in hours.
